Trim Levels

When you're shopping for the 2023 Nissan Altima, you have five trim options: S, SV, SR, SL, and SR VC-Turbo. For the 2023 model year, Nissan updated the Altima's appearance. It now has new wheels, the automaker's new logo, and a redesigned front fascia, including new LED headlights. The sedan also has a newly deepened grille, and its long roofline accentuates its almost full-size body. Gray Sky Pearl and Garnett Pearl Metallic join the available paint options.

Engine

Power for the 2023 Altima comes from one of two engines, and unlike most vehicles in this class, it is available with all-wheel drive. Models with front-wheel drive will see the engine crank out 188 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Those with all-wheel drive achieve 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. The SR VC-Turbo has its own engine, which is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four that gets 248 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission.

Performance

The 2023 Altima delivers impressive fuel economy for a non-hybrid vehicle. With the base engine and front-wheel drive, expect to get an EPA-estimated 28 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway. Those with all-wheel drive get slightly lower numbers with 26 mpg in the city and 36 mpg on the highway. The Altima gets an estimated 25 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway with a turbocharged engine.

Interior

No matter where you sit, the Altima offers ample legroom. Front-seat riders have 43.8 inches of legroom, while those in the back have 35.2 inches. Space isn't reserved just for travelers since the sedan's cargo space is one of the most spacious in its class at 15.4 cubic feet. SV models receive an upgrade to receive a 7.0-inch instrument cluster display and an 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. One of the noteworthy updates for the Altima involves its larger touchscreen. The 12.3-inch display comes standard on the 2.0 SR and top SL trim, but it's available on the two lower trims. This optional screen adds wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto connectivity, as well as wireless device charging and navigation.

Safety Features

To keep you and your travelers safe, the 2023 Altima is equipped with a handful of safety features, many of which are a part of the Safety Shield 360 suite.
