The Nissan Pathfinder is the perfect SUV for drivers who want a family hauler with some attitude. It delivers a smooth ride but has a sportier feel than other mid-size SUVs in its class. For the 2023 model year, a new Rock Creek model joins the lineup. This rugged trim has a lifted suspension and all-terrain tires on its list of features.

Trim Levels
The entry-level Pathfinder is the S. It comes with 18-inch wheels, LED headlights, and proximity key entry. A bump to the SV adds heated side exterior mirrors, while the SL adds a power liftgate. Adding the SL Premium Package gets you a panoramic sunroof and 20-inch wheels. If you choose the new Rock Creek trim, it has 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, an off-road suspension with a .6-inch lift, and LED foglights. It also has a tubular roof rack and a unique grille. At the top of the Pathfinder lineup, the Limited comes with the features of the SL Premium package and adds power-folding side mirrors.
Engine
The standard engine for the Pathfinder is a 3.5-liter V-6 that puts out 284 horsepower. If you have the new Rock Creek, it can grab some extra horsepower from this engine when used with premium gas, bumping horsepower up to 295. It works with Nissan's nine-speed automatic transmission in all models, and front-wheel drive comes standard. Four-wheel drive is optional for all models except the Rock Creek, where four-wheel drive comes standard.
Performance
The V-6 is powerful and responsive, while the transmission shifts quickly as needed for smooth acceleration. If you opt for the four-wheel drive system, you'll get selectable drive modes to help make the most of any conditions and terrain. You can choose from sport, eco, mud/rut, tow, snow, sand, and standard.
Interior
Inside, there's room for up to eight in the Pathfinder's three rows of seats. It comes standard with cloth upholstery and three-zone automatic climate control. The SV and above add a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and heated front seats, while the SL comes with leather upholstery, a heated steering wheel, and second-row sunshades. You can get heated rear seats by adding the SL Premium Package or stepping up to the Platinum, and this trim also has a power-adjustable steering wheel and ambient lighting. Technology features in the Pathfinder start with an 8-inch touch screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An upgraded 9-inch touchscreen for the infotainment system comes in the SL, which also adds integrated navigation and additional USB ports. Add the Premium Package for a 13-speaker Bose stereo system and wireless charging. Bumping up to the Platinum adds a digital instrument cluster, even more USB ports, and a household-style power outlet.
Safety Features
All the 2023 Pathfinder models come standard with a long list of active safety systems. You'll get a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning with automatic braking, rear automatic braking, and a lane-departure warning system. The SV adds adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, and the SL adds to this with a surround-view camera system with a 360-degree top-down view around the vehicle.
