5 Trails to Tackle in Indianapolis
Too many of us think that we have to pay a business in order to have fun — urban trails disprove that. If you're looking for something fun and new to do without having to spend your hard-earned cash, Indianapolis's trails are well worth the visit. Here are a few of our favorite Indy trails.

Monon Rail Trail

The Monon Rail Trail is easily one of the best urban trails in Indianapolis. It stretches for 26 miles from the town of Sheridan to Massachusetts Avenue in downtown Indianapolis. The trail is paved, making it a popular challenge for bicyclists. Along the way, you'll see plenty of places to stop, whether you're looking for a great restaurant or a cultural attraction such as the Carmel Farmers Market. Whether you take on the trail in sections or tackle the whole thing in one go, the Monon Rail Trail is a unique way to explore the Indianapolis region.

Indianapolis Cultural Trail

The Indianapolis Cultural Trail is an 8-mile path that takes you through the heart of the city. The trail winds through six downtown cultural districts and is open to both pedestrians and bicyclists. If you're a tourist or you simply want to get to know Indianapolis better, you'll love the opportunities to explore this trail offers. Along the way, you'll pass by many top-notch restaurants, breweries, and locally owned shops. Take a food tour on the trail to taste some of Indy's best food or take snapshots of the public art installations along the way.

Lawrence Creek Trail

Get away from the noise of the city in Fort Harrison State Park. In this park, you'll discover the 4.5-mile Lawrence Creek Trail. This nature trail is a fantastic way to see some of the area's lush flora and natural state. The trail is rated with a moderate difficulty level, as certain parts can get muddy. Try to time your visit to this trail with the changing fall leaves for a beautiful photo-worthy display.

Canal Walk

The 2.9-mile Canal Walk connects White River State Park to 11th Street. This is a paved loop trail, which makes it an easy stroll along the water. History buffs might be interested in the role the failed canal played in Indiana's development, but everyone will enjoy the sights of the city and soothing waters the Canal Walk offers.

White River Greenway

The White River Greenway is a 5.9-mile path that follows its namesake river through some nearby natural sights. The trail stretches from Noblesville's Potter's Bridge Park to Morse Park near East 196th Street. One of the more interesting sights you'll see along this trail is the covered bridge, which was built in 1837. If you're looking for one trail to try in the northern Indianapolis area, this is the one you should tackle.Explore these and the many other trails that wind through the Indianapolis area to see the city in a new light. Whether you're the headphones-in, trail-jogging type, or you're looking for a leisurely stroll through the area's natural and urban sights, Indianapolis's trails have you covered.   Image courtesy of pixabay.com

An oil change being performed at an auto service center near Indianapolis, Indiana.

Does Your Nissan Need an Oil Change?

While you're out on the road, pistons, rods, the crankshaft, and various other moving components work furiously away inside your car's engine. Without proper lubrication from high-quality motor oil, friction and heat will rapidly build up, leading to all kinds of engine trouble. Here, we'll look at how often you should visit your nearest Nissan dealer for an oil change, plus a few significant signs that your motor oil might be growing old. more Every 7,500 to 10,000 Miles is the Norm With durable modern synthetic motor oil, you can usually drive for 7,500 to 10,000 miles before you need to change it. This usually works out to once every six months. Always check your owner's manual for the recommended interval for your particular model and motor oil. You can also ask a trusted technician for their recommendations. Some Driving Conditions Wear Oil Down Faster Be aware that some driving conditions are considered severe, meaning that your engine and oil are under more strain. If you regularly drive in heavy stop-and-go traffic, for example, you should consider having your oil refreshed more frequently. Likewise, regular short drives of under five miles, towing heavy trailers, extremely hot or cold climates, and particularly dusty, dirty, or salty roads can all cause your oil to degrade more rapidly than usual. If you're putting your vehicle through this sort of strain, you might need to change your oil three or even four times a year. Signs You Need To Change Your Oil Soon If you forget to change your motor oil, you might notice your engine gradually losing power. As friction builds inside the engine, you may hear strange knocking and ticking sounds as the moving parts start to rub against each other without proper lubrication. Overheating may cause the temperature gauge to rise steadily upward on your dashboard, and you might even see white vapor escaping from under the hood if your coolant starts to boil. The check engine light is also likely to come alive on your dashboard if you experience motor oil problems. If you use the dipstick to visually check your oil, you're likely to find that it's dark and rather grimy in color, filled with little particles and contaminants. Any of these warning signs should prompt you to see a technician right away. Set Up a Suitable Routine at Your Nissan Dealership Many drivers find it best to set up a scheduled oil refreshment visit at their local dealership. This way, you don't need to worry about accidentally forgetting this important maintenance task. A trusted technician can ascertain the most suitable schedule for your vehicle and usual driving conditions and send you reminders when the time for a visit is almost due.   Have your oil checked and changed today by qualified professionals at Ed Martin Nissan.
