Discover the Indianapolis Zoo: 4 Tips for Visitors

Discover the Indianapolis Zoo: 4 Tips for Visitors
The Indianapolis Zoo is one of the best zoos in the United States, with over 3,800 animals of more than 300 species. It is located in White River State Park in Indianapolis, Indiana and is visited by approximately a million people every year. The zoo also has rides, attractions, and animal feeding programs. Are you planning a trip to the zoo with your family or friends? Here are four important tips to keep in mind before you buy tickets.

Make Time for All Five Biomes

Biomes are the geographical areas of our planet with similar plants and animals that share a climate.

Plains

This area includes animals such as cheetah, African lion, rhino, impala, ostrich, African elephant, wildebeest, zebra, etc. that are native to the African savannah and grasslands.

Deserts

The desert biome area of the zoo is famous for animals such as the desert tortoise, meerkat, roadrunner, Gila monster, iguana, etc. It also includes animals native to the Australian outback region like the red kangaroo, Emu, saltwater crocodile, etc.

Oceans

This area includes different aquatic animals, such as sea lions, seals, sharks, penguins, walrus, and dolphins, to name a few. Some of the fish species include lionfish, clownfish, tang, buttery fish, eel, and seahorse.

Forests

Some animals in the forest biome are red panda, Amur tiger, lemur, gibbons, brown bears, bald eagles, and turkey vultures.

Flights of Fancy

This section of the zoo is dedicated to different species of birds like flamingos, owls, eagles, parrots, macaws, pheasants, and hornbills.

The Zoo Is Closed on Only Some Holidays

The zoo is open to the public daily, including on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day. However, it is closed for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, and New Year's Day. In addition to that, it remains shut on Monday and Tuesday in January and February.

There's a Great Family Fun Adventure Package

If you are on a family trip to Indianapolis, the zoo offers a Family Fun Adventure Package to its guests. It includes four tickets to the zoo, four tickets to the children's museum, and an overnight stay at one of the partner hotels. A great way to spend quality time with your loved ones!

Keep Zoo Safety Guidelines in Mind

There are a few safety guidelines at the zoo for visitors. For example, children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Smoking, outside food, and beverages are not permitted inside the premise. No face paints and masks on anyone over the age of 12 are allowed. Apart from that, guests should dress modestly without any vulgar or offensive language or graphics on their clothes. If you are someone who takes a great interest in animals and loves interacting with them, a visit to the zoo would be worth every penny! Does Your Nissan Need an Oil Change?

While you're out on the road, pistons, rods, the crankshaft, and various other moving components work furiously away inside your car's engine. Without proper lubrication from high-quality motor oil, friction and heat will rapidly build up, leading to all kinds of engine trouble. Here, we'll look at how often you should visit your nearest Nissan dealer for an oil change, plus a few significant signs that your motor oil might be growing old. more Every 7,500 to 10,000 Miles is the Norm With durable modern synthetic motor oil, you can usually drive for 7,500 to 10,000 miles before you need to change it. This usually works out to once every six months. Always check your owner's manual for the recommended interval for your particular model and motor oil. You can also ask a trusted technician for their recommendations. Some Driving Conditions Wear Oil Down Faster Be aware that some driving conditions are considered severe, meaning that your engine and oil are under more strain. If you regularly drive in heavy stop-and-go traffic, for example, you should consider having your oil refreshed more frequently. Likewise, regular short drives of under five miles, towing heavy trailers, extremely hot or cold climates, and particularly dusty, dirty, or salty roads can all cause your oil to degrade more rapidly than usual. If you're putting your vehicle through this sort of strain, you might need to change your oil three or even four times a year. Signs You Need To Change Your Oil Soon If you forget to change your motor oil, you might notice your engine gradually losing power. As friction builds inside the engine, you may hear strange knocking and ticking sounds as the moving parts start to rub against each other without proper lubrication. Overheating may cause the temperature gauge to rise steadily upward on your dashboard, and you might even see white vapor escaping from under the hood if your coolant starts to boil. The check engine light is also likely to come alive on your dashboard if you experience motor oil problems. If you use the dipstick to visually check your oil, you're likely to find that it's dark and rather grimy in color, filled with little particles and contaminants. Any of these warning signs should prompt you to see a technician right away. Set Up a Suitable Routine at Your Nissan Dealership Many drivers find it best to set up a scheduled oil refreshment visit at their local dealership. This way, you don't need to worry about accidentally forgetting this important maintenance task. A trusted technician can ascertain the most suitable schedule for your vehicle and usual driving conditions and send you reminders when the time for a visit is almost due.   Have your oil checked and changed today by qualified professionals at Ed Martin Nissan.
