Mechanics
Each Versa model in this year’s lineup is fitted with a 1.6-liter 16-valve four-cylinder DOHC engine with 122 horsepower and 114 lb.-ft. of torque. All models feature a front-wheel drivetrain with the base model including a five-speed manual transmission, while the higher trims boast an Xtronic continuously variable transmission.
The Versa’s independent-strut front suspension, with a stabilizer bar and coil-over-shock build, helps give the sedan its superior stability, ride quality, traction, and handling. The semi-independent torsion-beam rear suspension also boasts coil-over-shock manufacturing.
Interior Features
The subcompact sedan can seat five occupants, with comfortable cloth seat trimming and a three-passenger bench in the rear. The cabin’s windows feature light tinting for privacy and to keep the interior cool. Every 2024 Versa cabin is equipped with standard illuminated entry with optional ambient interior lighting available as an add-on. The base model includes four speakers, illuminated steering-wheel-mounted controls, voice recognition through Siri or Google, and speed-sensitive volume control.
Higher trims add two more speakers to the sound system and include a seven-inch multi-function customizable LCD instrument cluster. The highest trim level in the lineup comes with Nissan’s Door to Door navigation system, as well as NissanConnect Services. The base model’s infotainment center is housed through a seven-inch NissanConnect touchscreen, while higher trims upgrade to an eight-inch touchscreen.
Safety and Driver-Assistance Features
The standard Automatic Emergency Braking program can sense when an impending forward collision is imminent. The system takes steps to prepare the vehicle and the occupants inside to mitigate the collision’s severity. The included Front Pedestrian Detection software is always active and monitors the road ahead to identify pedestrians crossing your Versa’s path. The system also tracks the pedestrian’s movements on your Versa’s interior display to help you monitor their location and avoid an impact.
The Rear Collision System, also a standard feature, monitors your Versa’s rear bumper to detect and mitigate the severity of rear-end collisions. Every 2024 Versa trim offers standard assist programs such as Brake Assist, Auto High Beam Assist, and Hill Start Assist. The base model also includes a Lane Departure Warning system, while higher trims offer Intelligent Driver Alertness, Blind Spot Warning, and Intelligent Cruise Control with traffic stop-and-go as standard features.
